About us
Jim started his career in the field as a kid, working as a laborer and earning money for college. It is what is expected when you grow up in a family of builders - Jim's father and grandfather are builders.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University in Civil Engineering, Jim built his career as a Project Manager - his first project after college was the Vanderbilt Stadium. He went on to work for a Philadelphia Regional General Contractor where he managed over $300M (today's value) in commercial construction projects.
In 1997 Jim started his own Construction Company, where, for over 20 years he built more than $250M worth of projects, and worked for some of the regions most demanding customers. His customers knew him as a President who knew the details of a project - the details of the estimate, the schedule, the pros and cons of each subcontractor - but most importantly he knew the expectations of his customer.
Because of this hands-on approach to managing work, Jim gained a reputation as a builder who brought great value to building programs by offering ideas that saved his customers time and money. He used his training as a Civil Engineer, and his experience as a builder and estimator to take projects apart, and put them back together in a way that enhanced the project and the project outcomes.
Along the way, and over 30 years Jim learned a few things about construction projects - he learned what can go wrong, where the gaps are, what customers expect and what can be done early in the planning phase to ensure great project outcomes. This is his philosophy as he consults for clients today - Planning Better is the Foundation of Building Better.
Jim knows a few things about building. So, when it comes to hiring a consultant to work with you as you prepare to build your new building - trust the guy who is not afraid to get mud on his boots.
